Sola

Sola is a dance piece which seeks to construct the presence of absence, revealing the shapes emptiness can take. Each night four dancers will present their solos, which have been self-choreographed around the theme of isolation, and what this means for them. Every showing of Sola will be unique, as the rotation of solos changes each night, providing diverse insight into the inner processing's and impacts of seclusion. With the addition of live music, Sola produces a dynamic and intimate atmosphere you should be sure not to miss!

This production is suitable for all ages.

PERFORMANCES

ANISE HARTLEY - PEOPLE OR STARS
Wednesday 12th, Thursday 13th, Saturday 15th March
A dance piece that leans into the significance of repetition underpinning absence, and
how the discomfort of familiarity with oneself can be a force for isolation.

EOIN MCCAUL - TRIO I
Thursday 13th, Friday 14th March
It begins in you, arrives in your audience, but also shares the space of transmission between you as it moves. As something which you or I will never see but if held gently enough, will flicker for a little while.

ISOBEL DYSON - THE LINE
Wednesday 12th, Thursday 13th, Friday 14th March
Returning to spaces of isolation sends the body into temporary metamorphosis. There is a line between the animated heavy body, regimented by task, and the spiralling mind.

IZZY MEGILLEY - VERTIGO
Wednesday 12th, Thursday 13th, Saturday 15th March
A piece exploring the stasis of burnout, and the tension pulled between the comfort of compression and the need to take up space.

LAUREN SAYERS - CHIAROSCURO
Friday 14th March, Saturday 15th March
What exists in solitude is only the self and yet it may be when the self feels most lost. A piece exploring an eVort to be defined by an impact on absence.

LUCY SIMS - LUCIA
Wednesday 12th, Friday 14th, Saturday 15th March
For me she was the whole of Italy. She was the presence through which I was defined; when her body died, where would I put it all? I put it in a tree.
